Exploring the Benefits and Challenges of AI and Big Data for a more Inclusive Civic Participation

On 9th October 2023, at 14:00 CEST, KT4Democracy.eu is organising its first webinar series entitled: ‘Exploring the Benefits and Challenges of AI and Big Data for a more Inclusive Civic Participation’.

The Knowledge Technologies for Democracy (KT4D) project is investigating how democracy and civic participation can be better facilitated in the face of rapidly changing advanced knowledge technologies - such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data – to enable actors across society to capitalise on the many benefits these technologies can bring in terms of community empowerment, social integration, individual agency.

The webinar ‘Exploring the Benefits and Challenges of AI and Big Data for a more Inclusive Civic Participation’ will explore how KT4D is connecting with its stakeholders to promote technology design that prioritises human well-being, inclusivity and ethical and democratic principles. Attendees will learn about the latest intersections of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data with democratic governance. The webinar will showcase the core objectives and missions of KT4D unveiling its approach to the challenges our modern societies are confronted with. 

In particular, the webinar will touch upon the very core of the project, the Use Cases. Four European cities have been selected to participate, and they will be hosting a different use case and facing different target groups. The project representatives will present the use cases in Brussels, Warsaw, Madrid, and Dublin diving deep into their differences and commonalities. Representatives from the side of the coordinators of the Project - Trinity College Dublin - will be talking during the webinar alongside the other 3 members of the consortium, namely: Demos Helsinki, Ciber Voluntarios, and the Institute of Urban and Regional Development. 

The webinar will be both informative and interactive with a final Q&A session where attendees will have the possibility to engage in the discussion. Our role

In KT4D, Trust-IT leads the communication, dissemination and exploitation activities. It coordinates the roll out of a tailored engagement strategy onboarding the target groups in the local use cases, with a shared methodology across the use cases, including co-creation workshops and the online, outward-facing collaborative platform. In collaboration with the affiliated entity COMMpla, Trust-IT co-develops and manages the KT4D branding and online presence, including the project website, social media channels, and other digital materials.

Trust-IT manages the coordination of the events, including the webinars, and it takes care of recordings to give everyone the possibility to access information also through the KT4D YouTube channel.
