Much of this collaborative work is underpinned by e-Infrastructure that integrate grid or cloud computing software to enable shared access to large data collections, advanced ICT tools for data analysis, large-scale computing resources and high-performaance visualisation. e-Infrastructure developers, research user communities, policy makers and standards experts are gathering in Lyon to showcase success stories, present new initiatives and chart a course for interoperability to boost competitiveness and new ideas for Europe. The Technical Forum of the European Grid Initiative (EGI) opens on Monday 19 September, marking an important step towards virtualisation and clouds to support an expanding user community.
