The Cooperation with India has many complementarities regarding promotion of research, establishment of commong research roadmaps, etc.
I would like to add also as a potential item for discussion: the connection between research and standardization. India is one of the countries using widely European-originated standards, and it is certainly crucial to deal with the standardization challenge, as one of the most relevant ultimate goals when promoting join research.

This networking session takes EU-India cooperation in ICT research to the next stage. We started with the broad awareness raising platform (EuroIndia 2004), a series of FP awareness building and recruitment projects (through 2005 and 2009). Now, the time has come to look at the engine that fosters collaboration at the core (policy alignment and coordination). While both EU and India need to maintain their distinct ICT (research) profiles and priorities, in a world where innovation is getting costly and time consuming, there is much room to look at a set of shared policies and actions resulting from them to drive the next level innovation and solutions. But we need to build a stakeholder consensus as to which policies to align and how to align. Policy without people owning it up and backing it would remain a statement of intent only! So let us discuss some concrete ways to align policy to foster mutually-beneficial collaborative research.
