No doubt that cooperation with India is one of the best opportunities for Europe in the international context. I will definitely attend this session with the aim of promoting further cooperative projects with Indian partners

Julián SESEÑA, ROSE Vision - Also representing AproTECH - AETIC, Spain
The Cooperation with India has many complementarities regarding promotion of research, establishment of commong research roadmaps, etc.
I would like to add also as a potential item for discussion: the connection between research and standardization. India is one of the countries using widely European-originated standards, and it is certainly crucial to deal with the standardization challenge, as one of the most relevant ultimate goals when promoting join research.

The Euro-India SPIRIT and SYNCHRONISER projects are working hard to bring together major Indian and European ICT stakeholders in order to shape the future of ICT in India. This session looks to be perfect for anyone intersted in working with Indian colleagues in the area of ICT.

Nirmalya BAGCHI, Administrative Staff College of India
The Euro-India SPIRIT project aims to map common areas of ICT research and policy thrusts between India and Europe. Interesting presentations have been slotted in this session.

Strenghthening European and Indian collaborations in ICT has been high on our company's agenda since 2002 - this session proves the importance of sustaining the EU & Indian dialogue in R&D

Most interesting session! This session enhances the impact of policy dialogue between both EU and India in ICT domain.

Ashok KAR, Infra Technologies, France
This networking session takes EU-India cooperation in ICT research to the next stage. We started with the broad awareness raising platform (EuroIndia 2004), a series of FP awareness building and recruitment projects (through 2005 and 2009). Now, the time has come to look at the engine that fosters collaboration at the core (policy alignment and coordination). While both EU and India need to maintain their distinct ICT (research) profiles and priorities, in a world where innovation is getting costly and time consuming, there is much room to look at a set of shared policies and actions resulting from them to drive the next level innovation and solutions. But we need to build a stakeholder consensus as to which policies to align and how to align. Policy without people owning it up and backing it would remain a statement of intent only! So let us discuss some concrete ways to align policy to foster mutually-beneficial collaborative research.

Alan HARTMAN, IBM Research India (IRL), India
I will be attending this session as a representative of IBM India Research Labs. We have expertise in a number of technology areas and the benefit of co-location with a large service delivery organization. Research in these areas will benefit from collaboration with European partners.

Hilary HANAHOE, Trust-IT Services Ltd., United Kingdom
India is a long standing cooperation partner with Europe and over the years we have seen a small but steady increase in collaborative research in the field of ICT between the two regions. Europe and India can boast excellence in many areas of ICT and increased joint collaborative research will offer benefits to both. The session will not only offer an opportunity to understand the future directions of joint EU-Indian policy in the field of ICT but, more importantly, offer you a platform to provide your contribution.
