Building Global Networked, User Communities

Global cooperation to address grand challenges like climate change, energy efficiency and resource efficiency is becoming increasingly important. Greater emphasis is also being placed on multi- and interdisciplinary research and connecting people from different professional backgrounds to ensure a wider pool of eSkills key for innovation in the fast-evolving global IT landscape. Trust-IT works in cross-border and cross-domain environments globally to help advance knowledge in key areas like research data infrastructures and digital libraries. Thanks to our frontrunner position on the international scene we create networks aligned with client target stakeholder groups, whether from enterprise, government, eneterprise and policy makers.

GRDI2020 - Towards a 10-Year Vision for Global Research Data Infrastructures, is a Europe-driven initiative that aims to establish a framework on technical, organisational, and policy recommendations to  guide the development of ecosystems of Global Research Data Infrastructures (GRDIs). In alignment with European directives, GRDI2020 brings together experts with a proven track record in addressing technical and policy issues on data research infrastructures, covering  cross-disciplinary domains (such as Climate Change, Energy, Earth Sciences, Biodiversity and Virtual Observatories, Humanities & Social Science) from a truly global perspective. Current iteration of the GRDI2020 Roadmap.

DL.org (Digital Library Interoperability, Best Practices & Modelling Foundations) mobilised Digital Library (DL) designers, developers, end-users and researchers from diverse domains in the drive towards interoperability, best practices and modelling foundatons for the enhanced development of next-generation DL systems. Specific outputs include an enhanced, community-driven DL Reference Model and a Technology & Methodology Cookbook with a portfolio of best practices, patterns and solutions on common issues for the development of large-scale interoperable DL systems. These in-depth outputs have been captured in four user-friendly Booklets with the Library & Information Science community firmly in mind.

egeeEGEE-III - Enabling Grids for EsciencE refers to a distributed computing infrastructure built and nurtured by the projects DataGrid (2002-2004), EGEE-I, -II and -III (2004-2010), which is now supported by the European Grid Infrastructure (EGI). This long-term organisation co-ordinates National Grid Initiatives, which form the country-wide building blocks of the pan-European Grid. Transitioning the care of the infrastructure from EGEE to EGI is part of the process for ensuring a vibrant and sustained European research community.
