Building the EOSC: information booklet now online!

27 Mar 2020

We are creating a European Open Science Cloud now. It is a trusted space for researchers to store their data and to access data from researchers from all other disciplines. We will create a pool of interlinked information, a ‘web of research data’. Every researcher will be able to better use not only their own data, but also those of others. They will thus come to new insights, new findings and new solutions.

We all remember these inspiring words delivered by the EC President Ursula von der Leyen earlier this year at the World Economic Forum. The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) aims to give the European Union a global lead in research data management and ensure that European scientists are able to reap the full benefits of data-driven science in all fields, a need recently highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This brief information booklet, mainly targeted at a non-specialised audience, was designed by EOSC Secretariat in order to offer a quick overview of the strategic priorities established by the EOSC Governance, on the road to the first iteration of a Minimum Viable EOSC by the end of 2020.

Learn more about the structure and responsibilities of the EOSC Governance, get to know the six working groups under the EOSC Executive Board and their different activities. Discover the EOSC journey, a joint undertaking involving 44 Horizon 2020 projects and more than 700 organisations across Europe.
