When it comes to sharing the results of EU-funded research and innovation projects, video is one of the most effective tools available. Among the different formats, video documentaries stand out for their ability to tell a story - showcasing real people, processes, and outcomes in a way that raises awareness and deepens understanding.
At Trust-IT Services and COMMpla, we invest time and effort in creating video documentaries because they bring research to life. They help visualise technical work that can be hard to grasp through written reports, making complex topics more accessible. By highlighting the people behind the science, these videos make the research more human and relatable. They are also a key part of dissemination and outreach, helping projects connect with not only experts, but also policymakers, industry, educators, and the public. And since they’re easy to share via websites, social media, newsletters, and events, they boost a project’s visibility and give its message longer-lasting impact.
Our latest video documentary comes from the Z-ONA4LIFE project and was filmed at the Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja (IETcc-CSIC) in Madrid, Spain. The video follows the process of transforming aluminium salt slag, a hazardous industrial waste, into synthetic zeolites - valuable materials that support circular economy principles. Members of the research team guide viewers through the lab activities and explain why this work matters for environmental sustainability.
Curious to see how industrial waste becomes a resource? Watch the full video documentary, it is just 5 minutes long, but you can learn a lot!
