Introducing the new Blue-Cloud 2026 website: Unlocking marine research potential with data, tools, and training for Open Science. Explore now!

We are delighted to announce the launch of the new Blue-Cloud 2026 website, a significant milestone in the evolution of the Blue-Cloud project. Developed using Drupal 9.5 technology, the website builds upon the legacy of the previous Horizon 2020 project Blue-Cloud, improving the way we access and utilise aquatic environmental data for Open Science.

A look at the new features

The new Blue-Cloud 2026 website serves as the central hub for the project, providing users with a wealth of information and resources. Researchers, policymakers, developers from around the world will have access to a comprehensive suite of tools and services, enabling them to navigate vast amounts of data efficiently and gain valuable insights to inform their work.

Introducing the Blue-Cloud Training Academy, a new section of the website that offers comprehensive lessons and materials. The Training Academy is designed to guide users in utilising Blue-Cloud services for Open Science in marine research. Whether you are new to the platform or seeking to enhance your skills, the Training Academy provides a range of educational resources, including tutorials and webinars. By participating in the Training Academy, users can unlock the full potential of Blue-Cloud and harness its capabilities for advancing Open Science in marine research.

The Blue-Cloud 2026 website also introduces a new feature: the Single Sign-On (SSO). This convenient capability allows users to use the same login credentials for both the public website and the Virtual Research Environment (VRE) in D4Science. With SSO, researchers and stakeholders can seamlessly navigate between the website and the VRE, enhancing their user experience. This integration ensures a smooth transition between registering for events, accessing resources, collaborating with peers, and conducting data-driven research within the Blue-Cloud ecosystem. The SSO feature exemplifies Blue-Cloud 2026's commitment to user convenience and accessibility, empowering users to maximise productivity and utilise the platform's tools and services more effectively.

Blue-Cloud 2026 in Horizon Europe

Blue-Cloud 2026 is a collaborative project that leverages Europe's expertise in aquatic environmental observation and data handling. It builds upon existing infrastructures like Copernicus and EMODnet, with the aim of creating a federated ecosystem for FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and open data in marine research. This ambitious initiative aims to simplify access to multidisciplinary datasets, analytical services, and computing facilities through a user-friendly web-based platform.

With an expected duration of 42 months, the Horizon Europe project Blue-Cloud 2026 is set to enhance its core services, integrate additional analytical tools, and improve data discovery and access in support of key initiatives such as the EU Green Deal and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Coordinated by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Trust-IT Services, and the Marine Information Service (MARIS), Blue-Cloud 2026 brings together a dedicated team of 40 partners from 13 EU countries. This collaboration ensures a diverse range of expertise, fostering innovation and the development of cutting-edge solutions for marine research.

We invite you to explore the new Blue-Cloud 2026 website and join us on this exciting journey of discovery and innovation. Together, we can unlock the potential of marine data and pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient future.
